Thanks!

Thanks for a fun term!  It was very relaxing and therapeutic, and classes flew by as I got "in the zone".  I love looking at my artwork hung up in my room and on the fridge - it makes for a great conversation starter :o)

Week Seven

Printmaking with styrofoam

The colours for this one didn't turn out as planned but I still like it :)
Collagraph printing - this was more challenging!  I lost half of the seaweed and
fish stripes during the first print.  Luckily, it still worked for this print and the next one.

Try 2 - what's left of the layered paper :(

I really enjoyed this activity, as disorganized as the classroom felt!  I wish there was a way to make it less chaotic but it really is an organized chaos.  My paper print (the fish) didn't work out as planned - the glued pieces started to fall off when doing my first print.  I thought about making a new one, but instead, I used what was left and made the lime green one first, followed by the pink one.  Not what I had originally, but I think it still looks pretty neat :o)  I LOVE the styrofoam prints.  I wish I had more than the six - I would love to use them for cards!!!!!  After this lesson, I am addicted to ink printing!

Week Six

Print making
Paper cutouts using chalk

Print gift box

I will definitely use the instructions for how to make a gift box with my classes.  It's such a great idea.  No more need to buy fancy-schmancy boxes for gifts either!!!

Week Five

Bitstrip with three different views

I came to art class this day straight from a 3-day power road trip with one of my best friends.  There are 3 of us in the class that have an inside joke about being coyote hunters.  That's why the characters in my bitstrip are wearing hats similar to ones that we actually own! (Our coyote hats).  It's pretty awesome when everyone else sees this and comments, "Oh, the Coyotes!"  Mission accomplished!!!  As for the knock-knock joke, it's not the funniest joke ever, but then again, neither is our humour....... :o)

Week Four

5 Proportion drawings

Practicing Picasso's heads using two different approaches - Meet Berta and Serge!

The final product - "Serge"
made with black marker and pastels

This was my favourite class - it was easy to get into the "zone" and colour with the pastels.  The class flew by.  I still have this art piece hung up in my room and probably will for years to come!

Week Three

cover page

Scribble Game
Red marker was initial scribble - purple marker to finish making an "acrobat doing a sommersault"

Scribble Drawing

Negative Space Drawing

Shape Drawing

Texture Drawing

Contour Drawing (attempted to not lift marker)

BLIND Contour Drawing based on toy dog (very difficult!)

I ended up making this art piece for our class dog, Mia.  I was having a "puppy sleepover" that night (Jess had to work), so I turned this into a book for her and actually read it before bedtime.  (She didn't do a good listening job).  It was a fun activity, especially trying to do the blind one!  I can see kids liking this one :)

Week Two

Line Painting
Made with only three paint colours - red, blue, green - and mixing in white

I like the details of this one in particular!
This was another one of my favourite activities but it didn't start out that way.  I didn't like the art we were given to imitate.  I didn't find our form of art very inspirational and I wasn't sure what kind of lines I could pick out from it.  But somehow, the creativity juices still flowed and I fell in love with the finished product (which is why I used it for the banner on my blog!)
